I Own a Private Jet Company. A Flight Attendant Broke Every Rule to Get Home to Her Son, and I Was the Only Passenger on Board

Natalie stared at me.
“You can’t do that.”
“I own the plane.”
“It’s a forty-thousand-dollar flight.”
“Then it’s a good thing I don’t have to pay myself,” I said.
We landed at Dallas Love Field just after midnight. I called the best family law attorney in Texas from the plane, a woman who owed me a favor from years ago. She met us at the hotel at one in the morning with coffee and a legal pad.
Natalie went through everything with her until four a.m. I sat in the corner of the hotel conference room and listened.
At eight-thirty, we walked into the Dallas County courthouse together.
The ex-husband’s lawyer stood up and made his argument. Natalie was never home. Her job was unstable. Jamie needed a parent who was present.
Then Natalie’s new attorney stood up.
She presented Natalie’s schedule for the last three years. She worked fourteen days a month, never more than three nights away in a row, always arranged around Jamie’s school. She showed the judge Jamie’s report cards and a letter from his teacher.
Then she called one more witness.
“Your Honor, we’d like to call Natalie Ward’s employer. Mr. Hunter Blake.”
I stood up.
